Holmes Cay Australia Beenleigh 10yr “2012”

This rum comes to us by way of American independent bottler Holmes Cay. This rum was distilled at the Beenleigh Rum Distillers in Queensland, Australia. Distilled from Molasses on a Pot Still, it was aged for 6 years in American Oak in Australia, and then aged for 4 years in the UK before being bottled with no additives at high proof.

ABV: 61%

Nose: Grapefruit, Vanilla, Pear, mint

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, sour candy, Grapefruit, Pear, Over-ripe Blueberry, Spearmint, Minerality.

Finish: Medium length finish, Spearmint, passionfruit, Pear skin, Grapefruit, Over-ripe Blueberry, Minerality

Rating: 7/10

A great rum bottles by Holmes Cay. This is right up there in profile with the small number of Beenleighs I’ve had. Fruity, a bit of spice, and some distinct minty notes with a heavy minerality. Another big winner from Holmes Cay for me.
