Review #941; Rum #294: Golden Devil Port Mourant 13yr 2008 K&L Select

Golden Devil DDL Port Mourant 13yr 2008 K&L Select

This is a bottling from independent bottler Golden (Kill) Devil. This single cask of rum comes to us from Demerara Distillers (Diamond) distillery located in Guyana. This molasses rum was distilled on the famous Port Mourant double wooden pot still, aged for 13 years, likely mostly continentally, then bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 64.5%

Nose: Toasted Caramel, industrial smoke, vanilla cream, allspice, cardamom

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, pencil shavings, industrial smoke, burnt caramel, vanilla, allspice, cardamom

Finish: Medium length finish, Pencil Shavings, Industrial smoke, burnt caramel, vanilla, allspice

Rating: 6/10

Very good. Nice classic PM flavors, but it lacks the oomph some of the better PM casks I have tried. The burnt caramel backbone is nice but lacks the depth of some of those other casks.
