Review #932; Rum #290: Treaty Oak Rum Single Barrel #443

Treaty Oak Barrel 443

This is a single barrel of rum that came from the Treaty Oak distillery located in Texas. This rum made from molasses was distilled on a column still, put in a new charred oak barrel, then aged in Texas until it was bottled at cask strength. This particular single barrel was chosen by an individual and I was unable to ascertain the age of the rum.

ABV: 50.3%

Nose: Nutmeg, Black Pepper, Cinnamon, toasted coconut

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, faint vanilla, nutmeg, black pepper, toasted coconut, a bit of minerality

Finish: Shorter finish, vanilla, black pepper, toasted coconut, cinnamon

Rating: 5/10

Its just fine. Good flavors, but nothing here really stands out for me. This is more savory than the other Treat Oak rum I had which is nice. However, it is lacking that oomph, that depth of flavor the other cask had. Not a bad rum by any means, but it doesn’t stand out for me.
