Review #930; Rum #289: Treaty Oak Single Barrel 8yr (Elixir Spirits Select)

Treaty Oak 8yr Single Barrel (Elixir Spirits)

This is a rum from Treaty Oak ,a distillery located in Dripping Springs Texas. This is a molasses rum that was distilled on a column still, was been aged for 8 years and 8 months in a new charred American oak barrel. It was then bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 55%

Nose: Vanilla Cream. Black Pepper, Nutmeg, Waffle Cone

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Black Pepper, Waffle Cone, Vanilla Cream, Nutmeg, Brown Sugar

Finish: Medium length finish, Waffle Cone, Vanilla, Toasted Brown Sugar

Rating: 6/10

Color me impressed, this is quite the rum. Spices, a nice oak structure in the back, and some sweetness to help balance out the oak. This is quite the achievement, almost 9 years in Texas and this is not over-oaked at all.
