This Rhum comes to us by way of Barbancourt, a distillery located in Haiti that uses cane juice for its rum instead of molasses. I don’t really have much info on this bottling except its Cane Juice, was bottled sometime in the 90’s, and was aged for an unknown period of time before bottling.
ABV: 43%
Nose: Grassy, Lemon Pop, Vanilla, a hint of Cedar.
Palate: Light mouthfeel. Vanilla, Grass, faint pop of pepper.
Finish: Short, Black Pepper, Grassy, Lemon Zest.
Rating: 4/10
Not bad. There is nothing wrong with this rum the flavors are ok and its perfectly acceptable to drink. Simple, easy to drink, the kind of rum you use as a cocktail base (in its heyday at least). For me at least, its light on flavor and isn’t very memorable. It was fun to try to see what rum from Barbancourt was like in the 1980s.
