This single cask from the Edradour distillery was selected or “Pillaged” as they put it, for the Edradourian Knights a collection of folks who are super fans of Edradour whisky. This single malt was aged for 11 years in a 2nd fill Hogshead Bordeaux cask before being bottled at cask strength with no additives or chill filtering.
ABV: 58.1
Nose: Figs, Nutmeg, Allspice, Honey Butter, Fresh Baked Bread, Peppery,
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Allspice, Honey Butter, Bready, Peppery, Fig spread, Earthy, Musty Water.
Finish: Medium length finish, Bready, Peppery, Fig Spread, Honey Butter, Allspice, Earthy, musty water.
Rating: 5/10
This is fine. It has some interesting flavors going on in it. The Fruits and baking spices are nice, but this musty water note that shows up as you sip this over time just becomes more pronounced and drags it down more and more. Not sure where the flavor comes from, but just kind of brings the whole experience down.
