Review #854; Scotch #203: Glen Elgin 17yr (2004)”Lady of the Glen”

This bottling comes to us by way of Lady of the Glen. This Glen Elgin was aged for 16 years in a Hogshead before being finished in a Ruby Port Barrique cask. It was then bottled at cask strength with no additives or filtering.

ABV: 55.7%

Nose: Nutmeg, Cinnamon, Strawberry Jam, Dark Chocolate, Raisins, Figs.

Palate: Medium Mouthfeel, Nutmeg, Raisins, Figs, Strawberry Jam, Cinnamon.

Finish: Medium length finish, Peppery, Dark Chocolate, Strawberry, Black Tea, Cinnamon.

Rating: 7/10

A delightful dram. Fruity, spicy, and bitter dark chocolate the finish is well integrated and not overpowering (to me). If I had a full bottle it would be sipped on cool fall or winter evenings as that is the kind of mood it invokes for me.
