Review #785; Rum #209: Single cask Nation 14yr (2007) Beenleigh

This rum comes to us by way of American Independent bottler Single Cask Nation. This rum was produced at the Beenleigh distillery located in Australia. It was aged for 14 years in a 2nd fill bourbon hogshead (with most of the ageing occurring in Australia) before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 65.1%

Nose: Apricot, Clove, Earthy, Pear Skin, Nutmeg, Guava

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, Blueberry, Apricot, Pear Skin, Nutmeg, Lemon Zest, Earthy

Finish: Medium length finish, Blueberry, Apricot, Pear Skin, Lemon Zest, Earthy, Nutmeg, Allspice

Rating: 7/10

This is a great rum. Loads of fruits, savory spices, earthiness, and some minerality. All these flavors pair really well with each other and are well balanced. The heat is well managed as is the oak, this is a great choice by SCN and I want to see more from Beenleigh.
