Review #763; Brandy #24: Clear Creek Douglas Fir Brandy

This is a Brandy from Clear Creek Distillery which is located in Hood River Oregon. This Brandy, inspired by a Spanish Eau de Vie, is made from green Douglas Fir Buds. They are then infused into Clear Creek’s brandy. This maceration is then re-distilled and re-infused with fresh buds. The green color comes from the Douglas Fir’s chlorophyll and no color has been added.

ABV: 47.73%

Nose: Mint, Pear, Heavy on Pine Needles (duh), earthy, Green Apple

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Pear, Pine Needles, Green Apple, Mint,

Finish: Medium length finish, Pear, Pine, Green Apple, Mint

Rating: 6/10

Very good, very unique as well. Its like someone plopped a fresh cut Christmas tree in my glass, threw some pears all over it, and sprinkled some apple and mint in to make for an aromatic experience. This is interesting neat, and would be a killer in some cocktails (though which ones I’m not sure yet). This makes me want to try more stuff from Clear Creek for sure.
