This is a release from Foursquare in the Exceptional cask series. This one, like all Foursquare, is a blend of pot and column distillate that is aged for 11 years in Barbados in ex-bourbon and ex-Zinfandel casks before being bottled with no additives.
ABV: 48%
Nose: Dark Chocolate, Cherry, Vanilla Bean, Figs, Cola, toasted coconut, toasted brown sugar,
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Dark Chocolate Cherries, Vanilla, Fig, Raisins, toasted coconut, toasted brown sugar, slight banana, plums
Finish: Medium length finish, Raisins, Dark Chocolate covered cherries, toasted coconut, black pepper
Rating: 7/10
This is a great release. I like this more than some of the other wine aged Foursquares I have tried up to this point. The fruits burst out and with the lower proof this would be a great one to introduce people to and is good for both exploring critically like writing a review, or casually sipping on something while hanging out. An excellent job by Foursquare as always.
