Review #707; Rum #158: Compagnie Des Indes 10 Cane 9yr (2012)

This offering from IB Compagnie des Indes comes to us from the 10 Cane distillery based in Trinidad that operated from 2003-2015. This bottling is a blend of sugar cane juice rum and traditional molasses based rum that was aged from March of 2012 to April of 2021. This rum was distilled on a French Alembic pot still twice. Let’s see how this product turned out.

ABV: 56.3%

Nose: Floralness, Wildflower, slight green apple, guava, faint grill char.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Wildflower, Floralness, Green Apple, Guava, Grill Char

Finish: Medium length finish, Floralness, Green Apple, Guava, Grill Char, Slight sea salt

Rating: 6/10

Overall a very good, and different rum. Lots of floralness, crisp fresh flavors, some light fruits and spices come together for a good experience. The spirit forwardness here is very surprising given the age, which makes me suspect a very tired cask, which works in its favor. Having not had any 10 cane before, I am quite pleased with this one experience.
