This bourbon comes to us from Texas distillery Garrison Brothers. It was aged for 4 years in New American oak before being transferred to smaller new oak barrels for another year. After this ageing in the Texas heat it was bottled.
I had this semi-blind, going in all I knew it was a Texas whiskey, so keep that min mind reading my notes.
ABV: 57.5%
Nose: Oak Tannins, Wet Cardboard, Mocha, Peppery
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Oak Tannins, Mocha, Wet Cardboard, Green Wood
Finish: Short finish, Green Wood, Wet Cardboard, tannins, mocha
Rating: 3/10
Overall, pretty bad. The green wood and wet cardboard are pretty standoutish here, and that kills the mocha note that could be interesting. The wood is a little too much here like it is on the young side. Not sure why it comes across that way. Oh well, still in search of a Texas Whiskey that agrees me.
