This blend of several casks of rum comes to us by way of the Independent bottler Rum Nation. This rum was sourced from the Guyana based Demara Distillers, allegedly form the legendary Versailles still where it was aged in Europe before being bottled. I had this blind and was then revealed the bottle so keep that in mind while reading my notes.
ABV: 56.8%
Nose: Star Anise, industrial funk, rubber cement, mango, grilled pineapple bark.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Star Anise, light oil, black pepper, rubber cement, lemon peel, grill char, popcorn
Finish: Medium length finish, pencil shavings, star anise, black pepper, rubber cement, lemon peel
Rating: 8/10
A tasty and delicious rum. Lots of savory flavors with some spice and fruit to balance it out. Great depth of flavor and well-balanced make this one fantastic drink.
Guess: Continentally aged Port Mourant, 12-15 Years, 56-58% abv.
Reveal: Rum Nation Enmore 14 Year
Overall, I feel like I did a good job with the guess. In the age, range and proof but slightly off given the still. With my lack of wide knowledge in tasting rum from this distillery, I like how close I was able to get. Once again a well-aged Guyana rum performs well for me.
