Review #675; Rum #144: Yaguara Cachaca

This Cachaca comes to us from Sao Paulo, Brazil. This hand cut sugar cane is harvested and ground on the same day, fermented into “Vinho” then distilled into copper pot stills before being rested in steel vats for 10 months.

ABV: 41.5%

Nose: Fresh cut grass, lemon zest, black pepper, pledge wipes, herbaceous

Palate: Light mouthfeel, Grassy, lemon zest, black pepper, light minerality

Finish: Short finish, pop of grass, lemon zest, black pepper, minerality.

Rating: 4/10

Overall, its not bad but there are better things similar to this out there, The flavors don’t pop as the lower proof brings it down for me, I think upping to 45-48% would really help flesh out some of the flavors in there. There isn’t anything offensive about it but overall it falls into the meh camp for me.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
