Review #671; Bourbon #159: Smoke Wagon Straight Bourbon

This comes to us from bottler Smoke Wagon who sources and blends MGP bourbon stocks. These are non chill filtered and with a high rye mashbill, this bottling is meant to be affordable everyday bourbon. Lets see how it is.

ABV: 46.25%

Nose: Vanilla, Black Pepper, Caramel

Palate: Medium light mouthfeel, Vanilla, black pepper, caramel

Finish: Short finish, pop of vanilla, black pepper, caramel, light tannins

Rating: 5/10

This is a very solid bourbon. It hits those classic bourbon notes with just a touch of oakiness. The flavors are balanced and pretty pronounced for the proof. Given the price point, this does a good job of hitting that classic daily driver bourbon profile I think the creators intended this to be

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
