Review #647; Rum #127: Privateer Distiller’s Drawer Windward

This rum comes to us from Privateer distillery located in Ipswich Massachusetts. This single cask was aged for 5 years and 5 months in ex-whiskey casks before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 57.4%

Nose: Bright, Toffee, cinnamon, black pepper, vanilla cream, floralness.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Toffee, cinnamon, buttered popcorn, toasted coconut, slight dark chocolate, floralness.

Finish: Medium length finish. Toffee, Totasted Coconut, floralness, black pepper.

Rating: 6/10

Overall, this is a very good rum. It has a nice depth of flavor, with some different notes from your usual offering due to the length of the ageing and the ex-whisky cask. It does not rise above very good, but this is a tasty and well-executed rum.
