This is a single barrel offering from Tequila producer Fortaleza, one of 6 released in the US this year. This particular barrel was chosen by Specs, aged in used American Oak for just shy of 7 months before being bottled.

ABV: 43.5%

Nose: Vegetal, Brine, Green Apple, Raspberry, Black pepper, faint vanilla,

Palate: Lighter oily mouthfeel. Fruits open up, Green Apple, Raspberry, slight tart blueberry, brine, green vegetalness, black pepper, vanilla

Finish: Medium length finish. Pop of Floralness, Vegetalness, Raspberry, Green Apple, Brine, and black pepper.

Rating: 7/10

This is a delicious tequila. It’s complex, well balanced and packed full of flavors. The ageing seems to have brought a nice touch of oak and barrel to the flavor without overpowering the base agave spirit. Nice fruits, brine, and spices round together a delicious experience.
