Review #624; Tequila #3: Caschuin Extra Anejo

This is an extra Anejo from Cascahuin, which is bottled at 43% and produced in the town of El Arenal. It is aged for 4 years in ex-bourbon casks before being bottled with no additives.

I had this blind so keep that in mind while readin my review.

ABV: 43%

Nose: Earthy, Mineralty, Charred Green Bell Peppers, Black Pepper, Vanilla

Palate: Light Mouthfeel. Green Bell Pepper, Minerality, slight vanilla, Faint Green Apple, black tea

Finish: Short finish, Minerality, Earthiness, slight Green Apple, black pepper, black tea

Rating: 6/10

Overall, very good to me. The depth of flavor is nice as the proof does not hold it back at all. A nice blend of green vegetal notes, some charged vegetables, slight earthiness, black pepper, with a touch of bitter black tea running all underneath. This leans heavily into the savory side of the flavor spectrum and I like it a lot for that.

Guess: I don’t know Tequila at all yet, G4 Anejo?

Reveal: Cascahuin extra anejo

Well I found this to be very good. Nice flavors, well balanced, but I have to admit the proof still holds me back on these things though I am impressed by the amount of flavor for 43%.
