This is a rum from distillers KoHana, who produce their rum using fresh pressed cane juice in the Agricole style in Hawaii. They grown their own cane, and this particular offering is from a barrel #1213, is Mahai ula cane variety, and was finished in a sherry cask before being bottled at cask strength with no additives.

ABV: 54.2%

Nose: Raisins, grape jam, fresh cut grass, nutmeg, grilled pineapple, nuttiness

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel. Grape Jam, grilled pineapple, nutmeg, grassiness, allspice, nuttiness

Finish: Medium length. Grape Jam, Nutmeg, Grilled Pineapple, allspice, nutmeg

Rating: 6/10

This is a very good rum. Good flavors, heat is well behaved for the proof. For me however, the sherry finishing dominates this to the point where I question if I’m drinking rum or rum mixed with sherry. It’s a very good offering, but one I would need to be in the mood for.
