Review #609; Rum #109: Havana Club 7yr

This rum comes to us from Cuba, currently unavailable in the US due to the embargo. Let’s see how it is.

ABV: 40%

Nose: Caramel, orange peel, vanilla, brown sugar, slight coffee

Palate: Thin mouthfeel, Caramel, slight cola, coffee, toasted brown sugar, black pepper, root beer.

Finish: Short finish. Orange peel, cocoa, caramel, slight vanilla, toasted brown sugar, black pepper, root beer.

Rating: 5/10

Overall, just fine. It loses points for being sweet and thin for me, but I can see why this is so popular. Heck I’d buy a bottle if I could for guests to drink neat and to make cocktails.
