This is blend from bourbon and American whiskey producer MGP. This is their own label and what they have blended is a marriage of at least 4 year old bourbon and American whiskey which could include corn whiskey, MGP light whiskey, and MGP rye whiskey. The name refers to the railroad and a segment of each bottle sold will go to support train museums. The label on this specifies no color added or Grain Neural Spirit added.
ABV: 44%
Nose: Vanilla, faint rye spice, caramel,
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Vanilla, caramel, slight butter, faint cinnamon.
Finish: Short finish. Cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, slight black pepper.
Rating: 5/10
Overall, this is just fine. It hits those notes you want in a classic bourbon and comes in, location dependent at a fair price point. This is mainly used a cocktail whiskey for me or as something to sip when I just want something to drink and not think too hard about it. The blend of all the various whiskeys sounds like a mess on paper but it works pretty well overall.
