50/50 John Dore 1 and Vendome
This bottling comes to us from St. Lucia distillers on St. Lucia. This was bottled for the Florida Rum Society in conjunction with Sarasota Liquor Locker and their “Eskimo Brothers” barrel picking society. These 2 blends were aged for 3 years separately, then aged another 5 blended together. This was bottled with no sugar added. Day 2 of the mad Chairman Reserve rush.
ABV: 59.8%
Nose: Tropical fruits, guava, mango, orange peel, nutmeg, faint motor oil, slight plastic funk,
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel. Heavy tropical fruits, over ripe banana, mango, orange peel. Motor oil, licorice, slight plastic and motor oil funk. Heat is well behaved and it has just the right amount of oak spice.
Finish: Medium length finish, Heavy fruits, mango, oak spice, nutmeg, licorice, black pepper.
Rating: 8/10
Overall, another great selection. This one is so heavy with fruits, but its balanced by a little bit of that St. Lucia funk it has going on it. Lots of Mango, guava, licorice, with some nice spice thrown in to compliment that lighter motor oil and plastic flavors. Complex and interesting, this is a winner in my book.
