Review #549; Rum #73: Karukera L’intense Agricole

This rum comes to us from Guadeloupe, and is made from the blue cane varietal. I had this blind so keep that in mind while reading my notes.

ABV: 60%

Nose: Strong fresh cut grass, lemon zest, Brine.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Lemon Zest, orange peel, brine, fresh cut grass, brine.

Finish: Medium length finish. Warm and moist. Lemon zest, black pepper, brine, grassy.

Rating: 6/10

This runs a little bit on the sweet side, but is still pretty tasty neat. Nice fruits, brine, and some grassy notes round out a pretty nice experience. Good neat, but I think this would make a pretty killer Ti-Punch.

Guess: 52-55% ABV, Martinique in origin, Agricole of some sort., ive not had enough to make a good educated guess on which brand.

Reveal: Karukera L’intense Agricole

Well that was a bit higher proof than I thought, and I was off on the island. Overall a very good showing, and something I could keep on hand for neat drinking or as a nice Ti’ Punch to refresh on a hot summer day.
