This comes to us from La Masion & Velier, and was distilled and fully tropically aged for 17 years in Trinidad, then bottled at 55%. This was bottled for the US market, and came from 7 barrels. I tasted this blind and took these notes before I was revealed the bottle, so keep that in mind when reading these notes.
ABV: 55%
Nose: Heavy Industrial funk, motor oil, diesel fuel, grease, dirty industrial smoke, faint tropical fruits,
Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, a bit more fruitiness comes out, mango, vanilla, motor oil, industrial smoke, diesel fuel, black pepper, plastic.
Finish: Medium length finish. Warm. Mango, vanilla, diesel fuel, industrial funk, banana, black pepper
Rating: 8/10
This thing tastes like it was made in an industrial plant. Loads of fuel, oil, grease, some spices, and some faint fruitiness that helps balance it a little, make no mistake, this is one industrial and dirty rum. And its freaking delicious, heat is held in check well, and it has nice complexity while still beating you over the head with an assault of industrial notes.
Guess: All these notes make me think real long and hard about this being Caroni, and Im gonna stick with that. Caroni, aged 16-19 Years, Cask Strength, and between 60-63% abv.
Reveal: Caroni 2000
Man, this thing is bonkers good. So much complexity and aggression, and the low proof shocks me as I thought it was 10% higher. I wish I had a bottle of this to keep around. Its so unique and good.
