This rum comes to us from LM&V, rum from Haiti from the Vaval producer that has been aged for 34 months in ex-bourbon casks from Buffalo Trace. This cask was selected be retailer Astor Wines and Spirits based out of New York.

ABV: 50.4%

Nose: Oak Spice, Vanilla, Grassy, peppery,

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Vanilla, Grassy, Black Pepper, nutmeg, banana

Finish: Short finish, Black Pepper, oak spice, vanilla, honey

Rating: 5/10

This is fine, it has some good flavors going on but the cask just dominates this ones. It’s like slightly Vavly bourbon. Just tons of oak spice, vanilla, and black pepper. Not bad by any means but not what I am looking for when I buy Clairin.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
