Review #517; Bourbon #131: Weller Full Proof OHLQ Single Barrel Select

This is a product from Buffalo Trace a “Full Proof” of their Weller line that is bottled at the proof the original distillate is put into the barrel. Let’s see how it holds up.

I had this blind, so keep that in mind while reading my review.

ABV: 57%

Nose: Cherry, vanilla cream, Dark Chocolate.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Cherry vanilla cream, black pepper, dark chocolate, wheated funk.

Finish: Medium length finish, oak spice, cherry, vanilla frosting, black pepper

Rating: 6/10

Guess: This is really good. Well balanced, lots of flavor, runs a bit on the sweet side with a ton of fruit and savory flavors. Im going to guess this is something wheated due to the sweetness, 56-60% abv, and 5-7 years old. Makers Mark Private Select?

Reveal: Well Full Proof SiB OHLQ Select. Well this was a fun surprise as this in hard to obtain. This is my 3rd Weller Full Proof I have tried and they all have scored very good or higher from me. I am not a fan of the OWA or the Weller Special Reserve at all, but this is a good product (or first year honey barrel pushout who knows). For what it is, these picks have impressed me, but still not enough to lose my mind over them. This was a fun review series to do with my local group and I would suggest doing this locally to have some fun. Kick in some bottles and do a big blind with 12 friends.
