This is a blend of bourbons that is married together in a solera cask system. These are a blend of bourbons from Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, and Colorado. This particular batch comes from their uncut and unfiltered line. Yield was 300 bottles and you can see the blend of bourbons on the bottle. How did this weird blend turn out? Let’s find out.
I had this blind, so keep that in mind while reading my review.
ABV: 62.5%
Nose: Nuttiness, vanilla frosting, caramel, black pepper, slight funk
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Nuttiness, black pepper, slight dark chocolate, tobacco leaf.
Finish: Medium length finish, black pepper, slight rye spice, dark chocolate, light funk.
Rating: 7/10
Guess: Tasty, with lots of sweet, some savory, and just a hint of funk going on in it. 55-58% abv, 8-11 years old. Russel Reserve Single Barrel?
Reveal: I would have never guessed this to be what it was, but it turned out really good. Nice age and oak structure, depth and layered as well. An interesting experiment for sure and one that turned out good to me.
