Review #510; Bourbon #126: Knob Creek SiB 9yr “The Party Source Selection”

This is a Knob Creek Single Barrel from The Party Source, a liquor store down in Kentucky. This one was aged 9 years and some change then bottled at 60 %. This is a part of a mini series where my reviews over the past and next few days have all been blind and submitted from a local group.

I had this blind, so keep that in mind while you read these notes.

ABV: 60%

Nose: Brown Sugar, Caramel, Black Pepper, banana.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, brown sugar, banana, black pepper, oak spice.

Finish: Long, warm. Black Pepper, oak spice, vanilla, banana.

Rating: 7/10

Guess: High proof, 63-66% abv, 6-8 years old, sweet with some light oak spice to balance it out. Im going to guess this is Jack Daniels Single Barrel Barrel proof. This is delicious, but high proof. Some water might help, this would also go great in a bourbon based cocktail.

Reveal: Boy was I way off, as I thought this drank hotter than it is. Overall it’s still quite good and holds up the adage for me that aged things can be better, age is not indicative of quality.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
