This is a single barrel pick by the Bourbon Enthusiasts club. Four Roses, aged for 9 years and 9 months then bottled this OESQ recipe at cask strength.
I had this blind and then was revealed the bottle so keep that in mind while reading my notes.
ABV: 55.9%
Nose: Caramel, oak spice, toffee, tobacco leaf, dark chocolate,
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Vanilla, toffee, dark chocolate, black pepper, nuttiness,
Finish: Medium length finish. Warm, Oak spice, black pepper, nuttiness
Rating: 7/10
Guess: Nice oak structure, balanced sweetness, and some nutty funk, I think this is a knob creek SiB pick.
Reveal: Well this was a surprising but not an overall shock. This had a ton of savory notes, was complex and delicious. Four Roses Private Selects usually impress me and I am glad that this was able to do so even blind.
