This was Matured in a bourbon hogshead for 14 years before being transferred to a shaved, toasted and re-charred first-fill barrique. Bottled at cask strength with no color added and non-chill filtered, let us see how it holds up.

ABV: 56.8%

Nose: Oak Spice, red berries, mustiness, lemon zest, vanilla.

Palate: medium mouthfeel. Wood spice, lemon zest, mustiness, dark chocolate.

Finish: Medium length, warm, oak spice, slight dark chocolate, lemon zest, sharp bitter black tea

Rating: 5/10

This is just fine, its not offensive or bad in anyway, it just isn’t very exciting. Loads of oak spice dominate all over, with occasional fruits popping in with some spices in there. A lingering bitterness on the finish brings it down a bit for me.
