This is a 10 year old SiC from a distillery in Panama. It was aged in a single ex-bourbon barrel then bottled at cask strength with no color added, was non-chill filtered, and had no sugar added.
ABV: 64.7%
Nose: Heavy Fruits, lemon zest, orange peel, mango, vanilla bean, toffee, black pepper.
Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Warm, dark chocolate, lemon zest, vanilla bean, orange peel, mango.
Finish: Medium length finish, warm. Lots of dark chocolate, vanilla frosting, orange peel, toffee, mango.
Rating: 7/10
Rich in fruit, spices, and some chocolate, this one is a real winner. The cask strength shows but it isn’t a huge negative for me. Once again, undosed cask strength Central American rum continues to impress me, I wish more of these distilleries would release their rums like this.
