Review #473; Scotch #158: Longrow 11yr (2007)

This is a bottling from Springbank in their Longrow series, it was aged for 11 years all in a first fill Sauternes cask. This was bottled at cask strength with no color added, and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 56.6%

Nose: Meaty sweet bbq peat, Grape Jam, Allspice, Nutmeg, Lemon Peel, Black Pepper, touch of floralness.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, meaty peat, light ash, industrial smoke funk, grape jam, lemon peel, allspice, stone fruits, black pepper.

Finish: Long, raisins, dark chocolate, meaty peat, light industrial smoke, oak spice, nutmeg.

Rating: 8/10

Rich, full of flavor, and layered with some nice complexity this bottling hits it out of the park. Rich funky peat, spices, fruits, and a touch of acidity round out to make this a top dram perfect for a crisp cool fall evening. This is one I wish I had a full bottle of around.
