This is a Knob Creek Single Barrel picked by and for longhorn steakhouse. This was aged for 14 years and then bottled at 60% abv. I tasted this blind, so keep that in mind when reading these notes.
ABV: 60%
Nose: Punchy, heavy spice, black pepper, caramel, oak spice, cherry cola.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel, orange peel, black pepper, oak spice. Tobacco leaf, vanilla cream, a bit of must.
Finish: Long finish, dry. Oak Spice, pepper, tobacco leaf, light caramel, light orange peel.
Rating: 7/10
This has lots of flavor and heat to compliment it. Lots of oak spice and structure, savory spices with hint of sweetness from vanilla and caramel poking through. This is a beast of a tasty bourbon.
Guess: This is a bourbon, aged 12-15 years, 62-65% abv, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof?
Reveal: Knob Creek SIB Bourbon, Long Hornsteak House Pick 14 Years
I was a bit off on the proof and the bourbon, but I feel pretty good about my guess. Knob Creek SiB’s continue to be some of the best values in bourbon.
