Review #438; Scotch #151: Arran 16yr 1998 Rest and Be Thankful

This is a 16 year old Arran from IB The Rest & BE Thankful Whisky Company. This came from a bourbon barrel distilled June 29th 1998 and bottled Feburary 23rd, 2015. This was bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 56.8%

Nose: Vanilla Cream, Cereals, Malty, Black Pepper, light honey, nice must.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Tart Blackberries, Vanilla, peppery, honey, musty malt, cereals,

Finish: Medium length, warm. Black Pepper, light honey, tart blackberries, cereals, oak spice, vanilla bean.

Rating: 7/10

This strikes a nice balance between the bourbon influence and the nice strong maltiness that I get in many Arran offerings. The cereals and malt shines through so well, and is well accented by this bourbon barrel. This was a fair price, and bottle I wish I had snapped up when it was available.
