Review #427; Mezcal #48: Cinco Sentidos Pichomel by Atelo Ramirez

This Mezcal comes from the Mixtexa Poblana in Puebla. It was cooked in a conical earthen oven for 6 days, crushed by hand, fermented in a hybrid steel, copper, and clay still with natural spring water. It was produced in July of 2019. Mezcalero: Atelo Ramirez

Batch: PICH02-19MX

ABV: 48.4%

Nose: Heavy Green Vegetals, bell peppers and cucumbers. Brine, salinity, raspberry,

Palate: Heavy, oily mouthfeel. Warm and coating. Cucumbers, green vegetal, light minerality, salinity, light Raspberry, spicy, earthy.

Finish: Medium length. Warm. Minerality, the fruits shine through a bit more, blueberry, guava, light green apple.

Rating: 7/10

The balance and complexity of flavors this has is outstanding. It goes more into the savory side (which I generally prefer), but not in a too powerful amount. Strong vegetalness, lighter fruits. The 5 Sentidos bottlings I have had have killed it, and I will be looking to purchase multiple full bottles from them in the future.
