Review #414; Rum #35: Habitation Velier LROK 9yr SiC New York

This is a bottling of the LROK from Hampden, this Single Cask was botled exclusively for the New York Market. This bottling was aged all 9 years in Jamaica, was distilled in a 100% Pot still, and has an ester count between 350-450 esters. This was bottled at cask strength with no color added, non chill-filtered, and with 0 sugar added.

ABV: 59%

Nose: Pungent, Rotting fruits, Mango, Guava, Pineapple, Light oil, slightly overcooked banana bread,

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Funky, rotting fruit, mango, banana bread, pineapple bark, burnt brown sugar, light salt.

Finish: Long and warm. Heavy funky fruit, banana bread, pineapple, allspice, lemon, burnt brown sugar, light salt

Rating: 8/10

This is a tasty rum. Tons of tropical fruit notes, a good amount of present funk, some nice heat and spices tie it all together. This is brash and aggressive in the best ways. Another win for a higher-ester, well-aged rum from Jamaica.
