Review #388; Scotch #147: Inchgower 20yr 1997 Signatory Vintage

I took these notes down blind, then was revealed the bottler later so keep that in mind.

This is a Signatory Vintage bottling for Specs in Texas. This was aged for 20 years in a refill sherry hogshead, then bottled at cask strength with no color added and was non-chill filtered.

ABV: 61.5%

Nose: Fruity, Honey, Figs, Syrupy, Pepper, Malty,

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, Dark Berries, figs, pepper, malty. Light honey and Sulphur.

Finish: Medium length, tart berries, honey, black pepper,

Rating: 6/10

Guess: This is a single malt scotch, aged between 10-14 years, bottled at cask strength between 55-59.9% Abv, and aged in a refill sherry barrel of some sort, I’m gonna say Oloroso.

This was revealed to me to be the 20 year old Inchgower above. I was off the mark a bit on age and proof but overall I feel I didn’t do terribly bad.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
