Review #382: Mezcal #22: Maguey Melate Cuixe Ange Cortes Sanchez Lot 2

This is a Madre Cuixe bottled by Maugey Melate and made by Mezcalero Ageo Cortes Sanchez. The agave was cultivated for 9 years before harvest, cooked for 12 days in the earthen oven, and Fermented for 4 days naturally, then 7 more days in a vat.

Lot: 2

ABV: 48.6%

Nose: Earthy, Mesquite, Green Bell Peppers, Light Mango, Black Tea.

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel. Mesquite, Earthy, black tea, minerals, mango, Green Peppers, Cumin, roasted agave.

Finish: Long, Warm and dry. Earthy/Clay, Bell Peppers, black peppercorn, Light Brine, Mesquite, roasted agave.

Rating: 6/10

The finish is what really sticks out on this. It lingers forever with a warm, peppery, salty, mesquite lead tingle that is very delightful. It leans more on the savory side of flavors which is good and has a nice depth and complexity.
