Review #379; Rum #31: Privateer Queen’s Share Barrel P370

Barrel P370

This is a single cask offering from Privateer. This cask was aged for 3 years and 2 days. This rum was aged the entire time in a second fill ex-rum cask. This Queens share line is made up o fthe tails of distillation rums that are set aside then redstilled and aged for these queen share bottlings.

ABV: 55.4%

Nose: Toasted Brown Sugar, Black Pepper, over ripe pineapple and mango, oak spice.

Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Black Pepper, light pineapple, allspice, nutmeg, toasted brown sugar, light funk.

Finish: Medium length, warm and moist. Over ripe Pineapple, black pepper, caramel, nutmeg.

Rating: 6/10

This is a tasty glass of rum. It’s well balanced while still being very pungent and powerful in flavor. The ex-rum cask makes this a very rummy experience in a good way. The base spirit shines through pretty well and it has the lightest amount of funkiness to it. Ex-Rum and New Charred Oak seem to treat Privateer base spirit well.
