Review #363; Rum #29: Hampden DOK Still Strength

This is the DOK from the Fine Drams x Aficionados collaboration. However, unlike the retail offering which was bottled at 69%, this is that at still strength, which clocks in at a staggering 85% ABV. Consesus among the selection panel for this held it is much better at 69%. We shall see how that holds up.

ABV: 85.76%

Nose: Pungent, Rotting fruits, Cinnamon, allspice. Ethanol for sure. This is a brutal, savage assault on your senses.

Palate: Light mouthfeel that disappears quickly. , roaring heat, slight pungent rotting fruit, cinnamon.

Finish: Medium length, searing roaring heat. Slight fruit, bitter, spice.

Rating: 3/10

This is clearly not meant to be drank at this proof, When compared to the 69% DOK, this one is a searing hot, closed off mess. The water really did wonders to open up some of the great flavors that this still strength one has locked away. While it was fun drinking and trying, Ill stick with the current offering.
