Review #338; Scotch #122: Images of Tain Tolboth

This is an offering from Malts of Scotland of a blend. While we are not 100% sure of the source of the blend, given that there are 2 distilleries in Tain, Glenmorangie and Balblair, we can guess this is either a teaspooned malt of one of those, or perhaps a blend of the 2 distilleries. I would also venture to guess a refill sherry cask of some sort but we can’t be sure. Let’s dive in!

ABV: 52.3%

Nose: Licorice, Stone fruit, Musty, Figs, Citrus Peel,

Palate: Thinnish Mouthfeel, Figs, citrus peel, Musty.

Finish: Short, Citrus, figs, pepper.

Rating: 5/10

I’m not sure how much they watered this down or the age, but this nose writes a check that the palate and finish can’t cash. It’s not offensive, and at a decent price point this would be nice to have on hand, but the overall experience leaves me wanting more in terms of flavor.
