Review #323; Rum #24: Privateer New England Bottled In Bond

This is an offering from Privateer of their rum. The spirit must be distilled by a single distiller, in a single season, at a single distillery and aged no less than 4 years at a federally bonded warehouse and bottled at 100 proof at the same distillery. We usually see this from American bourbon producers, so lets see how this rum offering holds up.

ABV: 50%

Nose: Toasted Brown Sugar, Oak Spice, Black Pepper, Caramel,

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, warm caramel, oak spice, toasted brown sugar, slight guava.

Finish: Medium length, oak spice, toasted marshmallow, warm caramel, black pepper.

Rating: 6/10

This is good stuff. It has good core rum flavors in there, with some good influence from the new charred oak. This is the ideal bottle I would use to get bourbon drinkers into the rum category and at the price; is something I want on my shelf all the time.
