This is a 10 year old Balblair, bottled for The Whiskey Barrel. It was aged its entire life in a first fill Olroso sherry hogshead. Let’s see how it holds up.
ABV: 59.4%
Nose: Hay, Lemongrass, malty, allspice, honey, shortbread.
Palate: Medium mouthfeel. Shortbread, lemongrass, black pepper, cinnamon, heat
Finish: Medium length, malt, cereals, honey, shortbread, heat, slight cinnamon.
Rating: 6/10
I like this, however, this bottling runs a little bit hot but the core base flavors are good, as its very spirit driven. Adding this to the list of distilleries I need to try more of.
