Review #272; Scotch #93: Laphroaig Cairdeas 2016

The 2016 edition is a no-age-statement (NAS) Laphroaig, originally matured in ex-bourbon barrels, with a second maturation in Madeira-seasoned traditional hogsheads.

ABV: 51.6%

Nose: Medicinal Peat, Strong red berries, Vanilla Cream, Toffee, toffee, raisins.

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, sweet, toned down peat, Jellyesque, Strawberry, toffee, vanilla cream, apricots. Light Smoke, oak spice. Well balanced and delicious.

Finish: Medium length, Sweet, medicinal peat, light sweet smoke, strawberry, vanilla icing

Rating: 8/10

The flavors in here are strong, they play well with each other, and how I wish I had a bottle or 3 of this. This stuff is fantastic.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average
