Review #270; Bourbon #83: Makers Mark RC6

Makers Mark RC6

This is a limited release from Makers mark; it has wood staves to add to the flavor profile similar to the MMPS offerings. These were 10 virgin oak staves seasoned for 18 months that were then added to a barrel for additional aging.

ABV: 54.1%

Nose: Sharp Oak Spice, Vanilla, Cherry, black pepper,

Palate: Medium oily mouthfeel, Oak Spice, Black Pepper, Cherry, toffee,

Finish: Medium length, dry, oak spice, black pepper, slight cherry, toffee, tobacco leaf.

Rating: 7/10

This is tasty. It punches pretty hard in terms of flavor, its well balanced, and the staves bring a nice oaky punch to the overall profile. If you are turned off by wood spice and barrel avoid this offering. However, if you like spicy, oak forward but not too dominant bourbon, this Limited release would be right up your alley. I wouldn’t mind having a bottle of this truth be told.
