Vatting of six single malts which are aged in first fill sherry casks then shipped to Unst, near the Muckle Flugga Lighthouse in the Shetlands. It spends a year on the island in new French oak before being returned to the mainland for bottling.
ABV: 40%
Nose: Plums, Honey, Hay, Sulphur. Raisins.
Palate: Watery, Thin. Hay, Light Fig, honey.
Finish: Short, light honey, raisins. Hay
Rating: 4/10
Overall this isn’t bad as something to sit back and drink without thinking, but it doesn’t have very much interesting things going on in it, and it comes across as very watery. I can see the appeal for it, however 40% is just too low.
