Review #223; Rum #13: 451 Spirits Pipe Dream Batch 4

451 Spirits Pipe Dream Rum

This is a Pot Still Rum made by 451 Spirits in Columbus Ohio. The use “Extra Long Fermentation with natural bacteria. It is then aged for a time in new charred oak for 1.5 years, then six months in ex bourbon barrels.

ABV: 45%

Nose: Molasses, slight funk, slight green wood, banana hint

Palate: A bit water, molasesy, brown sugary, green wood, vanilla, oak, some fruits, light funk of fruits.

Finish: Medium length, Brown Sugar, Mollases, Green Wood. Caramel. Oak. A slight funk lingers over the entire finish

Rating: 5/10

For a young local offering this hold its own pretty well. Not saying its anything too crazy, light funk, soft vanilla, a bit of greenwood and oak from that new charred oak. Overall, for $30 a fifth I could have a bottle of this now and again.
