Review #213; Bourbon #78: Horse Soldier Barrel Strength

This is a cask strength bourbon offering from the Horse Soldier brand. This bourbon has been sourced from MiddleWest Spirits in Columbus Ohio where it was contract distilled. I had this blind so keep that in mind.

Nose: Baking Spices, Vanilla, Caramel Oak.

Palate: Acetone, Greenwood, Vanilla, oak,

Finish: Short, Greenwood, Vanilla, Oak,

Rating: 3/10

Guess: I would guess this to me a young craft bourbon with a high rye mashbill, aged 4 years or less, 45-50% abv. If this is something that’s really good, it just doesn’t agree to my palate very much.

Reveal: Horse Soldier Barrel Strength Bourbon

So this is a start up distillery that sources from Middlwest Spirits formerly known as OYO. The stuff tastes young and is not very good, which surprises me as I like some of Middle West’s offerings.
