Review #204; Scotch #63: Benromach 10yr

This is a 10 year old OB release from Benromach. It was matured for nine years in 4/5 bourbon and 1/5 sherry casks before an additional year in sherry casks. I had this blind so keep that in mind reading my notes.

ABV: 43%

Nose: Smoke Meats, Pepper, Honey, Briney, Light Smoke, Peat, funk

Palate: Medium Oily mouthfeel, Sweet BBQ Esque Peat, smoke, brine, peppery, vanilla, funk

Finish: Medium length, vanilla sweetness, peat, brine, smoke, funky

Rating: 6/10

Guess: This is tasty and good. I will guess this as an 9-12 year old springbank, ex-bourbon barrel, 47-52% abv. Let me have it!

Reveal: Benromach 10 Year

Off on my guesses for this one, but not bad for the price, would not mind a bottle at all. Not sure why I was getting the notes I was but overall pretty good!

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
