This is the 2019 release of what should be an annual release from BF. I’m doing it SbS with last years release to compare them.
ABV: 61.6%
Nose: Ethanol, Brown Sugar, Slight Banana note but not overpowering. Dark Chocolate, Vanilla Frosting.
Palate: Medium Oily Mouthfeel, Slight Metallic Taste, Brown Sugar. Leather.
Finish: Medium long length, Oak, Leather, and dry.
Rating: 6/10
Doing these SBS and looking back at my review on the 2018 offering from 1 year ago when I was but a young fresh reviewer, they are similar and I would give a slight edge to last years offering.
Both are good examples of barrel proof bourbon and to me the best Woodford Reserve product that I have tried. However, the pricing on these is pretty high coming in at $120+ and is easily outclassed by comparable releases. (ECBP, Stagg Jr, Rare Breed etc etc).
These are worth trying imo, but I would not rebuy.
